Company are seeking rising seniors to
participate in Summer Leadership Institute 2008 June 21-28 at Wofford. This summer leadership camp is free and
students will be housed in Wofford dorms. Students
must be in the top 10 to 15% of their class and involved in leadership roles
either in the school or local community. Qualified students should pick up an
application from Ms. Baughman (A-L) or Mr. Robinson (M-Z), complete it and
return it to Guidance by March 31st. · The Piedmont Middle College will offer juniors and seniors an opportunity to earn
credits in five additional career programs in school year 2008-2009. Students will take two courses each
semester and earn 12 college hours and 4 carnegie units toward graduation. Students will
choose from Commercial Art, Criminal Justice, Horticulture, Heating,
Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) OR Welding. Courses will be
taught at Piedmont Technical College from 12:45 until 2:45 each day and all
textbooks, equipment and supplies are provided. The program is free and space

state are invited to spend their summer studying math, science and technology
at the South Carolina Governor's School for Science and Mathematics (GSSM.)
The Summer Science Program (SSP) brings students to the GSSM campus for their
choice of three week-long camps (June 15-21; June 22-28; and July 6-12) emphasizing
field trips and hands-on lab work with professors from a variety of South
Carolina colleges and universities as well as GSSM faculty. SSP course
offerings include robotics, chemistry, mathematical challenges with and
without graphing calculators, crime scene investigation, physics, field
ecology, marine science, plant biology, digital electronics, web-page
creation, immunology, and mathematical forensic science. For the second year,
a course in robotics will be offered to rising 8th graders.To
be accepted, students must have proven interest and abilities in science and
mathematics, demonstrated through test scores and grades. The cost of each
program varies depending on materials, but the tuition averages less than
$600 per week-long session. Some need-based scholarships are available.
